How does gifted testing work for St. Petersburg families?

It starts with a free 15-minute phone consultation, followed by one in-person testing session here in Pinellas County and a feedback session where I walk you through the results. The whole process usually takes about 2 to 3 weeks from first call to finished report.

Will Pinellas County Schools accept the report?

Yes. Every report I write is designed to meet Florida district requirements, and my reports are accepted by Pinellas, Hillsborough, Pasco, and Manatee County schools — so the evaluation still works if your child changes schools within Tampa Bay.

Florida's gifted rule (Rule 6A-6.03019, F.A.C.) generally requires a full-scale IQ around 130, a majority of gifted characteristics on a standardized checklist, and demonstrated need. One honest note: the district's staffing committee makes the final eligibility decision — my job is to document exactly what that committee needs to see. What if my child is struggling instead of racing ahead?

I also evaluate reading, writing, math, attention, and organization concerns. A psychoeducational evaluation ($1,500) can identify dyslexia, dysgraphia, or dyscalculia, and a 504 evaluation ($1,700) documents the need for classroom accommodations.

An ADHD evaluation documents how attention difficulties affect your child at school so you can pursue 504 or IEP support; treatment decisions stay with your pediatrician. I also offer executive functioning evaluations for bright kids who struggle with planning and follow-through, and admissions testing for St. Pete private-school applications. How do families pay for testing?

I accept cash, check, and Zelle. This is a private-pay practice — I do not bill insurance, which rarely covers school-related psychoeducational testing — but I provide a detailed receipt you can submit for HSA or FSA reimbursement.
